The Higgins Bedford unites on one site three previous cultural venues : Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford Museum and Bedford Gallery, and the buildings date back several hundred years. Please check for latest opening hours.
Housed in the former Higgins and Sons Brewery, the collections reflect the history of the area. You'll hear of the villainous Falkes de Breaute whose antics led to the siege of Bedford Castle in 1224. There's a wonderful medieval tile pavement from Warden Abbey.
Located in the town centre close to The Embankment and a short walk from the Bedford Bus Station and Railway Station. The nearest public car park is at Lurke Street. Photograph Copyright Dennis Simpson and licensed for reuse.
