Sywell Aviation Museum

Sywell Aviation Museum charts the history of the Art Deco Sywell Aerodrome from 1928 to the Second World War to now - and aviation in Northamptonshire as a whole.

Displays include uniforms, photographs, models, wartime kitchen, bomb train, equipment displays, aviation archaeology and more.

Aviation Archaeology - the recovery of crashed aeroplanes - is a core aspect of the exhibits. One of the larger of these is a Bristol Hercules engine recovered from the wreck of the Vickers Wellington bomber which crashed at Hardwick, now carefully cleaned and preserved.

The museum building is made of three Second World War Nissen huts linked together.

Full disabled access, free parking, aircraft viewing area, on site bar, hotel, restaurant and cafe.

This was Northamptonshire Musuem of the year in 2007.
