MI Scheme

Olney's MP has welcomed the start of road improvements which will better link Milton Keynes to the capital.
Mark Lancaster is said to be delighted that work on the M1 at junctions 11 and 12 will bring the hard-shoulder running scheme closer to reality.
By 2013, the government’s aim is to have the hard shoulder in use at peak times, between junctions 10 and 13 at Milton Keynes.
The Milton Keynes North MP said: “The better our transport links, the better for the economy of Milton Keynes – as well as the sanity of my many constituents who travel southbound every day. I hope that by preserving with speed restrictions in the short term, the long term outcome will be swifter, safer motorway journeys for everyone.”
Work started on the ‘Managed Motorway’ scheme in December 2009 with the aim of reducing traffic.

Mr Lancaster added: “I have previously bemoaned work done in Milton Keynes for the benefit of other towns, such as the railway engineering works that helped the commuters of Birmingham rather than our own. But this time, road improvements carried out in Bedfordshire will actually benefit the people of Milton Keynes.”
