Fireworks & Halloween In 2009 Olney Town Fireworks became a Halloween celebration too! Zombies at the door, bones discovered in gardens, packs of children loose after dark....just another Halloween. But this year the trick or treating in Olney was punctuated by the sound of fireworks. The town fireworks were held on October 31st, rather than the beginning of November as is traditional. It meant that Dracula, Frankenstein and a few zombies could attend the fireworks (organisers had laid on a fancy dress parade for good measure). The fireworks were fired from the Cricket Club field, meaning that the whole event was in one field instead of being split between the two. It meant people could be closer to the amenities. There was a small fair, stalls plus indoor bar at the Cricket Club and outdoor licensed bars on the site. The place was awash with glow sticks which were given away to children compliments of sponsor, Stephen Oakley and Co. Stephen Oakley said "It is always a great night in Olney, but I think people dressing up for Halloween this year added even more fun." The event was organised by The Olney Group (TOG). |
