Doff's Field Open
Saturday 5th September saw the official opening of Doff’s field by Olney RFC.
The event saw non-stop rugby games involving juniors, Ladies & distinguished past players.
The first match of the season kicked-off at 3pm with the Olney 1st team playing Bletchley.
What was planned as an afternoon and evening of celebration was tinged with much sadness, following the recent death of David Baseley known as Baz.
He had joined the club in the early 1990's from Daventry and played 1st XV rugby for over 10 years until 2003.
He was a member of the team that won the Lewis Shield in 1996 and played in the side that won the 1999/2000 league.
A minute’s silence was observed at the start of the first team match as a mark of respect.
